I found this heart several years ago and decided to use it in a way that would let our family support each other. When someone is going through a tough time or is disappointed or discouraged, whoever is in possession of the heart passes it on with a little note of encouragement attached. My kids have passed it to each other with notes as simple as "I'm sorry" or "I love you." Sometimes the note is a little longer. I have even helped the younger ones write something. The kids have given it to us and we have also passed it to them.
There is something wonderfully simple about the blue heart and what it stands for in our home. It reminds us that for all of our differences, we are a family that is ultimately bound together with love. It lets us know that we are, no matter how we are feeling at the time, not alone. It is a physical reminder that love surrounds us--even when we're feeling sad, lonely, ugly, disappointed, or unlovable. Love is there for the taking.
Happy Love Thursday. May you take all the love you can get.
